GAME Plan for week 3

To implement my GAME plan, I need to learn more about incorporating digital tools. I also need to know what would be available and approved by the district. Moreover, I need to start looking for ideas and strategies that address students’ diverse learning styles especially bilingual students. In addition, I need to explore for more activities and ideas that relate to my students’ real life issues that incorporate digital tools resources. Another important step that I need to take is to attend as many workshops as possible and conferences that could help me reach my goal.
So far I have spoken to my colleagues in the school where I usually substitute teach about my GAME plan so they can help me reach my goal since I am not employed there. I am also searching through the web for ideas and strategies that I can use with LEP students.

  1. Howayda,

I like the idea of talking with colleagues regarding ideas for incorporating digital tools into your classroom. As a substitute, it must be difficult to establish a list of tools because you are probably not aware of the options at each school. If you are able to work at a school for an extended period of time, I would recommend finding out if the school has an ESOL teacher and meet with him or her to discuss strategies of meeting the needs of your bilingual students. Often times, I have found that my colleagues can be the best resources and are usually more then willing to share ideas and experiences in order to assist me in my classroom.

  2. Hi Howayda,
Great start to your GAME plan. Communicating with colleagues is a great place to start. I am in the same boat with you. Right now I am trying to talk to colleagues and research online too. It might help to ask around and find a great classroom to go and observe a teacher who is using technology the way you would like to use it. Good luck with everything.

  3. Howayda,

It would seem that because you are currently a substitute teacher it might be harder to accomplish your goals though it sound like your off to a great start. Attending meaningful workshops and conferences are a great resource when you are given the opportunity. Do you sub long term or is it day by day. Having different students each school day would be hard to form personal bonds with students and learn their learning needs. Good luck.

  4. Hello Howayda,

I am also working on incorporating digital tools into my lessons so that my students can become proficient with using digital tools. I think that it will be important for you to first, figure out what tools are available at your school and second, make sure that you are able to operate the digital tool so that your students will understand how to use the digital tools. I am starting off with assignments that incorporates power point presentations, blogs and voice threads just to name a few. There are not many technological resources available at my school but the programs I just name are readily available on the internet.
